Mrs. Wyatt’s Remind Code is @mrswyattk
Dear Kipling Parents and Students,
I would like to welcome you to another learning filled school year. My name is Mrs. Wyatt and I will be teaching music to PreK to 8th grade students this year. In music class we will be learning about musical instruments, how they work, how to play them (keyboard, guitar and percussion), and how to create and perform student-created musical works.
Music grades will be awarded as follows:
60%= Skill Practice (Formative Assessment): practicing the given skill of the day. An example of a skill would be playing an instrument, listening and describing specific things in the music (for example, describing a melody as going up or down or what instruments are being used), describing what the mood of the song is or improvising on a melody.
30%=Performances, Projects or Tests (Summative Assessment) This would include performing in school wide assemblies, musical composition projects or an in class skill demonstration. Additionally, this can be a speaking or a listening grade in the classroom as well.
10%=Written Work. This would include writing song lyrics and writing descriptive answers to music related topics.
I look forward to our journey of discovering and learning about music and its impact on thinking and perceptions. Please feel free to reach out to me at anytime at firstname.lastname@example.org
